Trekking in Rishikesh- An Unforgettable Experience!

I have no idea where to start! This trip was such a wonderful trip! School trips have always been the best and full of crazy moments, this one was too! It was our first ever trip, me and my sister, for four days without our parents! And of course we had to do everything on our own, which was actually fun. Frankly, every school trip and vacation with my family has special memories in my heart as we always do something different and crazy! But this one, it’s extremely special.

The field trip was for five days, along with our school teachers and other people (for the activities of the journey). We had a great trip!

On the first day, it was all about traveling from Delhi to Rishikesh, and after we arrived, we played some games on the ground of our resort and prepared for the next day. The next day started with waking up at six in the morning and a yoga session at seven, we played a few very exciting games in our resort and then went sightseeing!

Now comes the best and the craziest part, Trekking! It was our third day and I got up even earlier. We started trekking at eight to a hill village. At first, it was a little scary as the hill was steep, however, after a few minutes, I was really enjoying it, though I fell numerous times! The hill was filled with olive and emerald green trees and the view after we trekked up every ten minutes was so fantastical! After an hour, I remember, it was really tiring for many students who were there along with us, however, me and my sister were still really energetic and this thought that we are experiencing such an adventure for the first time, this is such a beautiful time- with mixed up emotions of feeling tired, happy and determined all at the same time, made me even more joyful, energetic and determined!

I was again and again getting reminded by sir to put the phone inside the bag, but I wanted to capture almost everything as this was such a wonderful time which I knew would never come again and hence, I was trying to capture videos of our footsteps upwards, the view, some spots on the hills and almost everything, evertime!

When we asked sir, how much time more to reach up, sir said forty minutes, even though those forty minutes felt neverending to us! Each time we had a break, our teachers and experts motivated us to believe that we can do this and those tiring moments were replaced with funny talks full of sarcasm and laughter while trekking upwards!

It took us more than four hours to reach the summit of the hill, at our destination, but it was an accomplishment we achieved!!!

Finally, after walking for 5-10 minutes, we were finally at someone’s house, where we had to rest for a while and rejuvenate ourselves and then trek downwards on the way to Patna waterfalls, my and in fact everyone’s favorite part!

An aged aunty came out and greeted us and our coordinators, the members of the house were extremely, extremely humble. The way they served us and the way they loved living a simple yet a happy life was something which I had never seen before! We also got to know that the

children and other people trek down and up the hill every single day, for their schooling and occupation!

We rested there for quite a long time and then I felt refreshed and back on energy, until I very confidently set my foot down the hill and slipped! That’s when I realized that trekking down is tougher (at least for me!) then trekking upwards and now because I started feeling a little bit dizzy, a trekking expert, Shashi ma’am, was taking care of me during the trek.

The most adventurous part was when we were walking on the narrow part of the hill and we all felt like the main temple run character!

We asked sir, how many minutes till we reach the waterfall sir? Sir said, just forty minutes and now, again, these forty minutes were literally never ending and we were really really tired by now!

It was afternoon by now and the sun shone brightly and it was really hot now, with the temperature increasing, my energy was fading every minute and many of us almost gave up! We literally visualized that we’ll be walking here forever and will never get down and reach our resort. Not Even Kidding!!!

After a while, we were again outside of someone’s house, a lil down the hill. This time, instead of sitting upright, we almost fell asleep for around half an hour and then again went back to our trekk.

Though I rested for a while, I was still lacking energy to trekk, until the weather finally was a little pleasant and the soft waves of wind made me a little energetic and before I could have lose my energy again, we were almost there! For me, this beautiful spot made our trekking for long hours absolutely worth it!

I was amazed at one glance of this beautiful waterfall! The beautiful, chilled water dazzlingly flowing down from a very high top edge and hitting the surface, forming a small water body down. There were small benches to sit and a few very beautiful spots to click pictures at!

Everything felt so vivid and dreamy.

The contrast of soft, breezing cold wind due to the flow of water and the hot temperature formed from the brightly shining sun was so relaxing!

Many from our group straight walked forward and set their feet in the icy-cold water! I was seated on the bench, trying to capture the beauty of this beautiful spot and present moment through my phone.

I removed my shoes and started walking towards the waterfall, the land filled with rocks and pebbles was burning hot because of the hot temperature! Somehow, I just walked forward and tried setting my one foot inside the water with my phone in my hand, I stepped back after I felt

the freezing sensation! After stepping in and out, thrice, I was finally able to stand under the waterfall and it felt so therapeutic! I was back on energy once again!

Sadly, we did not have much time and were about to leave after a few minutes. I tried to make most of those few minutes by buying a cold drink for our trekking ahead, took photos and videos of the spots here and there and made my sister do that too!

Now, it was time to trek down the hill and reach our resort, which did not take a lot of time and we were energetic enough to talk to each other and laugh while trekking and to be grateful for this amazing adventure we had for the very first time, for which Rishikesh is known for!

Not just this, we enjoyed other interesting adventure sports like, my absolute favorite zip line, wall climbing, tree climbing and we even played beach games on a white sand beach on our second last day, which was so much fun!

I am so so grateful for this beautiful trip, for that everything we did and experienced for the first time, for the friendship that we had with the people we never met before, which made us a little emotional on our last day when we had to leave and not just the adventures and friendships, we also learned discipline of time and to do and manage things without our parents!
